Harness Your Blame

Bon Iver sings, in his renowned album “For Emma, Forever Ago”, that you should harness your blame (“The Wolves Act I and II”)

Someone commented how, in creating this album, Justin Vernon is harnessing his blame and pain. I think there’s a lot of wisdom to be found in this…in harnessing our pain and our negative emotions in general. Because no one, not even the craziest of happy clappy Christians, can be happy always.

So, here is Mmmarty’s Five Point Plan for How To Harness Your Blame
Subtitle: because having a slew of ex-boyfriends can still be beneficial

1. Make funny blog posts about it
2. Let it push you into exploring and loving yourself more
3. Let it challenge your more conventional wifely side, which would never have approved of flings
4. Let all the experiences shape you into a woman more wise and strong than a woman afraid to try
5. Let it push you to listen to incredibly beautiful music, filled with words that will drown out all the mundane break up lines…

  1. I like this…I’m in that place, at present, and trying so deperately to remain upbeat and positive…but damn, issues are no fun to deal with. you post helps 🙂

    • Aw man 🙂 I hear ya. I think it’s good to know we’re not totally alone, and blogs do help with that :)i think it’s ok to get upset and cry..you can’t lie to yourself that you’re hurt, but there comes a time when you have to put down the tissue box and harness the experience into something fruitful. 🙂 🙂
